THE NEW FIMS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

RIO DE JANEIRO WILL HOST THE 2018 WORLD CONGRESS OF SPORTS MEDICINE

Quebec City, 20th  June 2014

On 19th June in Quebec City (CA), on the occasion of the XXXIII FIMS World Congress of Sports Medicine, the FIMS Council of Delegates took place with the election of  the new Executive Committee for the 2014-2018 term.

The President, Prof. Fabio Pigozzi, Italian, Rector and Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the University “Foro Italico” of Rome, was unanimously re-elected. The new Secretary General is Prof. Norbert Bachl, Austrian, Full Professor of Sports and Exercise Physiology and Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at the University of Wien. Vice Presidents elected are: Prof. Guo-Ping Li, China; Dr. Milton Pinedo Soriano, Dominican Republic; Dr. André Debruyne, Belgium; Prof. Constant Roux, Côte d’Ivoire. The President of the Brazilian Society of Sports Medicine, Dr. José Kawazoe Lazzoli is the new Treasurer.

The new Elected Members are: Mr. Michael Kenihan, Australia; Dr. Sayed Hussein Khashaba, Egypt; Prof. Konstantinos Natsis, Greece; Dr. Rafael Augusto Robles Cabrera, Guatemala; Dr. Patrick Yung Shu-hang, Hong Kong SAR; Dr. Joao Paulo Pereira De Almeida, Portugal; Prof. Boris Polyaev, Russia; Prof. Angela Smith, U.S.A..

The Council of Delegates elected Rio De Janeiro as Host City for the XXXV FIMS World Congress of Sports Medicine. During the first Executive Committee meeting have been appointed the new Commissions Members as well as their Chairmen who are part of the new Executive Committee. They are: Prof. Nick Webborn, United Kingdom, Chairman of the Scientific Commission; Prof. Emin Ergen, Turkey, Chairman of the Education Commission; Dr. Katharina Grimm, Germany, Chairman of the Interfederal Commission and Prof. Maurizio Casasco, Italy, Chairman of the Development Commission.
