FIMS Collaborating Centres of Sports Medicine network grows
On occasion of the FIMS Executive Committee meeting in Antigua, Guatemala, and upon recommendation of the review committee, four new Collaborating Centres of Sports Medicine (CCSMs) were accredited. These are 1) the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University inMoscow, Russia; 2) the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University Hospital in Salzburg, Austria; 3) the Hospital da Clinicas da Faculdade de Medicina de Universidade da Sao Paolo (HFCMUSP) in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and 4) the Instituto di Riabilitazione Riba in Torino, Italy.
With these latest additions, the number of FIMS CCSMs has grown to 22 around the globe. Each Centre is committed to the goals of the pact of the Centres – which in essence is promoting all aspects of sports medicine. Details about each Centre, including their contact details, are found on the Collaborating Centres of Sports Medicine webpage on this site. Following the successful meeting of 13 of the Centre Directors in Milan in September 2015, active work has begun in aligning and standardising pre-participation athlete assessments by all Centres. A follow up meeting for the CCSM will be held on the occasion of the 34th FIMS World Congress of Sports Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. FIMS looks forward to this meeting and for more units around the world joining this exciting network of Centres to increase our impact.
