On 13th September in Rio de Janeiro (BRA), on the occasion of the XXXV FIMS World Congress of Sports Medicine, the FIMS Council of Delegates took place with the election of the new Executive Committee for the 2018-2022 term.
The President, Prof. Fabio Pigozzi, Italian, Rector and Professor of Internal Medicine at the University “Foro Italico” of Rome, was unanimously re-elected as well as Prof. Norbert Bachl, Austrian, as Secretary General. The Vice Presidents elected are: Dr. André Debruyne, Belgium; Prof. Guo-Ping Li, China; Prof. Constant Roux, Côte d’Ivoire; Dr. Rafael Augusto Robles Cabrera, Guatemala. Prof. José Kawazoe Lazzoli, Secretary General of COPAMEDE, has been confirmed as Treasurer.
The new Elected Members are: Dr. Andrew Jowett, Australia; Dr. Maher Zahar, Tunisia; Prof. Konstantinos Natsis, Greece; Dr. Ana V. Cintron, Puerto Rico; Prof. Patrick Yung Shu-hang, Hong Kong SAR; Prof. Klaus-Michael Braumann, Germany; Prof. Boris Polyaev, Russia; Prof. William Roberts, U.S.A.
Prof. Eduardo Enrique De Rose (Brazil) continues to be part of Executive Committee as Honorary President for life.
The Council of Delegates elected Guadalajara as Host City for the XXXVII FIMS World Congress of Sports Medicine in 2022. During the first Executive Committee meeting have been appointed the new Commissions Chairpersons who are now part of the new Executive Committee. They are: Prof. Yannis Pitsiladis, United Kingdom, Chairman of the Scientific Commission; Prof. Dimitri Constantinou, South Africa, Chairman of the Education Commission; Dr. Christian Schneider, Germany, Chairman of the Interfederal Commission and Prof. Maurizio Casasco, Italy, Chairman of the Development Commission.
